Diet Vs. Disease
Have you heard of “the frog in the frying pan” syndrome?
If you put a frog in a hot frying pan it will immediately jump out but put a frog in a cold frying pan and slowly increase the temperature, eventually, you will have a cooked and very dead frog.
Sorry for being so gruesome but I am trying to make an analogy of our current state of affairs as it pertains to the extremely poor health of our nation.
We are being manipulated!
Big tobacco seduced us from the early 1900’s well into the mid-1900s and later leading people to think it was glamorous and that there was nothing wrong with it.
Finally, evidence has shown us the horrible negative effects it has.
Well, we have an almost identical crisis now and most people never saw it coming and don’t see it now even though they are suffering from chronic disease, fatigue, depression, and anxiety.
That is because Big food behaves quite a bit like Big tobacco did. It started a long time ago and now they are in complete control.
I am talking about processed convenience food.
Only 1 in 20 people consider themselves healthy!
“Just one in 20 people worldwide (4·3%) had no health problems in 2013, with a third of the world’s population (2·3 billion individuals) experiencing more than five ailments, according to a major new analysis from the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) 2013, published in The Lancet.
That means that only 1 out every 20 people reading this article consider themselves completely healthy.
According to National Vitals Statistics Report, chronic diseases are the leading cause of death and disability in the United States leading to 7 out of 10 deaths each year.
Heart disease, cancer, and stroke alone causing more than 50% of all deaths annually.
I believe there are many forces at work here including our environment, the busy stressful lives that we lead, and what we are putting into our bodies.
While we may not have complete control over our environment and to some degree the stress in our lives, we do have control over what we are consuming.
This is where I believe we need to feel the heat in the frying pan and jump out quickly.
Just like Big Tobacco, there are companies out there lining their pockets on the sales of garbage food that is killing us.
Did you know that only 10 companies control almost all the
large food and beverage brands in
Nestlé, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, Unilever, Danone, General Mills, Kellogg’s, Mars, Associated British Foods, and Mondelez —
These companies make billions of dollars in revenue every year.
This awesome infographic was designed by Oxfam and it shows exactly how interconnected consumer brands really are.
I am waiting to learn that Big Pharma and Big Food are actually in bed together as well.
Think about it.
Crazy? probably- but I bet Big Pharma loves Big Food!
Big Food makes money selling their crappy food to us.
We get sick and then Big Pharma gets rich selling us their overpriced drugs.
I hope you stay awhile and take a stand for your own
health and the health of your friends and family.
Slap Big Food in the face!
Slap Big Pharma in the face!
It can be fun, fresh, sexy, easy, and so rewarding.
Let me show you how.
Together we can change the world.
